John and Northwestern Mutual helped my husband and me with planning for the anticipated most stressful times of our lives. There is an old adage that says “Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now”. Sadly, one of those anticipated times happened much sooner than expected. I was widowed at age 36. I had stress but not the level of financial stress because my husband and I had done life insurance planning with John and the Northwestern Mutual. I was able to take the time to heal and spend time with my two young daughters for several years. Since then, I have asked myself why me? and as I have gotten older I realized why not me is a more realistic thinking. It can happen to anyone at any time. During that particular time, I needed a team who could help me not only through the grieving process, but help with the financial process and on-going support of losing a substantial part of the household income. Another overwhelming time for many is looking at retirement. I am optimistic about my future and am planning for retirement one day.
